IF IT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW

SF Rapid Response Network — 415-200-1548. If immigration enforcement has detained someone in San Francisco today. Twenty-four hours, English, Spanish and Cantonese. It is usually one person answering; if the line is busy, call again. Save it in your phone before you need it.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988. Any crisis, any hour, English or Spanish, with text, chat and a Deaf/HoH line.

Trans Lifeline — (877) 565-8860. Peer support run by and for trans people, and divested from police since the day it opened. That distinction matters if calling for help is itself a risk.

The Trevor Project. Crisis counseling for LGBTQ+ young people, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Larkin Street Youth Services — 1-800-669-6196. Housing, health and work for young people without a home in San Francisco. It starts at the drop-in center.

YOUR RIGHTS

ACLU — Know Your Rights. What to do when you are stopped, questioned, arrested, or at a protest. Written for the moment it is happening.

ACLU — Qué debe hacer si la policía… The same, in Spanish.

LEGAL HELP

Immigrant Legal Resource Center. Training, practice advisories and Red Cards for immigrants and the people defending them — asylum, detention, removal defense, DACA, TPS, citizenship.

The LGBT Asylum Project. The only San Francisco nonprofit working solely on legal representation for LGBT asylum seekers fleeing persecution for their sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status. Clients are low to no income. They take donations, and they need them.

National Center for LGBTQ Rights. Litigation and legal help across LGBTQ life. Their Hogar immigration team takes calls on 800-528-6257.

Transgender Law Center. The largest national trans-led legal organization. Their site carries a Safe Exit button, which tells you something about who they built it for.

San Francisco Tenants Union. Volunteer-run since 1970. Counseling for renters, in English and Spanish.

Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund. Disability civil rights — law, policy and training, from Berkeley.

HEALTH

San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Sexual health, HIV testing and care, PrEP and PEP, trans health care, substance use and overdose services, mental health, housing subsidies. Most of it free.
